Begin your journey to a healthier lifestyle with other women who want to lose weight. 

We’re with you every step of the way. Take the first step toward a healthier you that lasts. 

For over 30 years, our international research team has led successful weight loss studies. Now, we’re inviting women to join an exciting healthy lifestyle journey designed to help you lose weight, improve your well-being, and connect with new friends along the way. Our healthy lifestyle program aims to prevent the onset of debilitating conditions such as chronic knee pain.

Study sites include Wake Forest University, UNC-Chapel Hill, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and the University of Sydney.

The study sponsors include the National Institutes of Health, the Arthritis Foundation, CDC, Wake Forest University and Rapid Nutrition.

Why Participate?

  • Enroll in a free Healthy Lifestyle Program 
  • Participate in sessions that may include a combination of weight loss, healthy lifestyle, nutrition, and exercise 
  • Receive $140 and free medical tests with full participation 
  • Be supported by trained staff every step of the way

What is Involved?

You will be randomly assigned to one of two Healthy Lifestyle Programs built on 30 years of research and experience.

Diet & Exercise Program

  • Follow a low-calorie personalized plan, with the goal of losing 10% of your body weight
  • Diet will include up to two complete meal replacements per day (these are provided by the study and are optional - similar to protein powder)
  • Participate in exercise classes two days a week 
  • Receive individual and group coaching throughout your journey

Healthy Living Program

  • Attend quarterly group classes on your journey to a healthier lifestyle, with a focus on nutrition and both physical and mental health topics.  
  • Receive monthly support from the study team 
  • Access a free exercise app containing aerobic, strengthening, and balance exercises.

Eligibility

Candidates may be eligible to participate if they…

  • Are female and 50 years of age or older
  • Are overweight
  • Have little to no knee pain
