This UCSF study aims to better understand how asthma works by examining the cells that line the airways.


The research team will be comparing cells from individuals with and without asthma.

This study is funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Participation will involve:

  • Up to 2 study visits over about 2 weeks
  • A medical procedure called a bronchoscopy

Study visits take place at UCSF Parnassus Campus – 505 Parnassus Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94143.


Eligibility

Candidates may be eligible to participate if they:

  • Are adults age 18 to 70 years
  • Have asthma
  • Not currently using a corticosteroid inhaler
